Safe Scumming

Post by darlingg »

I've heard for Fallout: New Vegas that merely reloading a save over an active game does not reset all values and can lead to strange behaviour and eventual data corruption. Is this also true for Fallout 2? And if so, is it best practice to first exit to the "Intro/New Game... Exit" menu before reloading, or even to exit further to desktop and reboot Fallout 2?

No, it's not.

Fallout 1/2 have been prone to save corruption when saving in combat, though. I think it's been fixed in latest sfall releases, but if you want to be extra safe still, avoid doing that.
